Listed are a few suggestions that our photographers feel will enhance the images from the portrait session you have with The Occasion Studios.
*A general rule for choosing clothing is to try for simplicity. Bright colours, with bold patterns such as largestripes or polka dots tend to draw the eye away from the person in the portrait.
* A lot of people for group portraits will dress the subject in what they think suits each individual the best,
this can cause clashing, we suggest that you
co-ordinate clothing.
* Elbows are handy, but they don't photograph well, we advise the need to choose long sleeves and avoid sleeveless or short sleeves
* When choosing pant or skirt length, choose a length that is attractive to the subject. Pantsuits or long skirts look great in portraits .
*We suggest that the subject analyse their attributes, keeping in mind that they will be photographed in both seated and standing poses so the length chosen should be the one that looks the best on them.
*Choosing clothing that is neither too tight nor too loose because this assures that it will hang evenly without excess creases or folds.
*Don't forget the shoes, often people forget their shoes will appear in portraits and we will be making some full length portraits so make sure if you wear sneakers and jeans to the studio that you bring along another pair of shoes for the formal poses (and vice versa).
*Tips on eye glasses, if you wear glasses ask your optician to lend you a pair of empty frames a similar style to your own.
*An individual may be able to wear an exotic colour or design, but a family dressed this way would give so many lines and colours that it would be difficult to find their faces.
